I am wearing socks with sandals right now. Although I am always on the cutting edge of cool, mainly I’m trying to work out if these Birkenstock nightmare objects will ever be comfortable.
I was talking to a make friend about the height thing. Why do we cling onto the idea that men should be taller than the women they date? Seems like the last stereotype to die. Apparently some women write - don’t contact me unless you are over 6 foot. Weird.
Glad to hear there will be a part two to your dating stories, Anna. I hope the algorithms favour you at some point soon.
Ha! I'm in sock dilemma season, too. Still got to get the tent in that we put up as overspill accommodation for a summer gathering two weeks ago, and am put off a) by the howling wind which threatens to blow it away as soon as I extract a single tent peg and b) by what to put on my feet while I do it. Too cold for sockless feet in Crocs, and don't want to ruin my cosy fleece-lined slippers. Coffee and Kitkat first.
I feel it's a psychological barrier that needs crossing. Have courage. I am actually thinking about other sock/sandal combinations to try out.

Will not be going outside like this.
I ran so you can walk
I work flip-flops with muji flip-flop socks (feet mittens, a big toe and then all the rest) with a suit to work once and got absolute pelters...
But I did also have home made bondage trousers at school
Those socks give me the fear. But I feel that those who DIYed our own punk finery have earned the right to wear whatever the hell we like.
preach sista!
Another sartorial dilemma I hadn’t thought about. Hope the future Mr Eyeball is on it with the socks
I suspect that socks and sandals will become another reason for all the future Mr Eyeballs to roll swiftly in the opposite direction
If he can’t handle the heat..,
Socks and sandals have and always will be super cool. Get them on!
